“Prado” by Alexandre Sousa Wins Best Project Award at Curtas Pro
The short film project Prado, directed by Alexandre Sousa and produced by Jonas César, was awarded the Best Project Prize in the In Development section of Curtas Pro.
The awards ceremony took place on Monday, July 15, at 5:00 PM, in the courtyard of Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery in Vila do Conde.
The decision was made by the section’s jury panel, composed of Lauma Kaudzīte, Miquel Martí Freixas, and Claudia Salcedo, who praised the project for its thematic relevance and artistic sensitivity.
"We have decided to award PRADO, directed by Alexandre Sousa and produced by Jonas César. The subject matter is very current and is pressing in many European societies and here it is condensed in one story line and two characters while it carries the weight of this pressing topic. In a simple form it is very complex. The director’s approach is full of sensitivity and tenderness. The story, which is based on a personal experience, is expanded with the use of animation and its visual metaphors. We believe that the resources provided with the awards will be useful in the different stages of production."
The jury added that the resources provided through the award would be “a valuable contribution to the different stages of the project’s production.”
The In Development section of Curtas Pro is dedicated to supporting short film projects in development, fostering emerging talent and promoting independent cinematic creation.
