Curtas Vila do Conde Hosts Filmmaking Workshop with Gabriela Giffoni
The 34th Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival will host a new edition of its Filmmaking Creation Workshop, led by Gabriela Giffoni. The workshop will take place on July 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at Vila do Conde Municipal Theatre.
Designed for filmmakers with different levels of experience, the workshop offers a space for practice, experimentation, and collective exchange, supporting the development of cinematic ideas at various stages. Through practical exercises combining directing, screenwriting, and editing, alongside the collective analysis of films and creative processes, participants will be encouraged to explore personal approaches and distinctive narrative forms.
Grounded in an artisanal approach to cinema — less dependent on large-scale production resources and more focused on the creative process itself — the workshop invites participants to think of filmmaking as a path of discovery and realization. Throughout the sessions, each participant will develop an outline for the film they wish to make, refining ideas, references, and possible directions for its production.
In addition to the morning sessions, which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., participants will also be invited to attend festival activities and screenings during the afternoons.
The workshop is limited to 12 participants. Registration is free of charge, but subject to selection by the tutor and the Curtas Vila do Conde team through an application form:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSedRqPWtoU12F-86J92bywzf22yvPNFZFqLJyBQimiogR21AA/viewform
Applications are open until June 30th, 2026. Selected participants will be notified by email by July 7th, 2026.
Participation fees are €15 for students — upon presentation of a valid student card — and €20 for non-students. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
