David Lynch's Mulholland Drive, premiered 20 years ago, and is an imaginative catharsis about Hollywood as an inducer of dreams and desires, but also as a carburettor for obsessions and nightmares. Based on this delicate and singular meta-cinematic approach conceived by Lynch, Curtas prepared a program that reflects upon the mecca of cinema in the collective imagination of successive generations, named Hollywood Daydreams and Nightmares, with films such as: Sunset Boulevard, by Billy Wilder, Singin’in the Rain, by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, The Bad and the Beautiful by Vincente Minnelli and Realité, by Quentin Dupieux. Joining the celebration of Semaine de la Critique's 60th anniversary, we will present a program entitled Sweet Sixty, which brings together films by Julia Ducournau, João Paulo Miranda Maria, Bruno de Almeida, Tsai-Ming Liang and François Ozon.
