Turkish- Kurdish filmmaker Deniz Şimşek tells us the myth of a water monster that dates back to the ancestors of Armenians and Kurds around Lake Van, a region that witnessed the ethnic cleansing of these peoples. The mythological, the political and the personal intertwine in the blue of the landscape, amid various forms of oblivion. ‘Meanwhile, the ancestral gods are angry with us, and I'm angry with my father.’
