Curtas Vila do Conde is now a new partner of the Talking Shorts platform and of the European Network for Film Discourse network (The END).  As well as developing the European Workshop for Film Criticism, the members of this network promote the New Critics & New Audiences Award 2025. This award, supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA programme, aims to connect new film critics with emerging audiences for European short films.

From February 5th to 19th, six European short films, selected by participants of the 2024 European Workshops for Film Criticism, will be available for free on the Talking Shorts platform. We invite the public to watch these films and cast their votes for their favorite. Everyone who votes can win an annual subscription to This is Short,, the official streaming platform of the European Short Film Network (ESFN). The winning short film will be unveiled on February 21 and will be awarded a cash prize of €1,000.

This collaboration underscores Curtas Vila do Conde's dedication to supporting and promoting independent and experimental cinema, while also fostering critical engagement with the showcased works. By partnering with Talking Shorts and The END, the festival enhances the visibility of European short films and encourages interaction between burgeoning critics and new audiences.
